Call for Submissions: 2016 Ripple Effect Film Project

The Ripple Effect Film Project continues with its 2016 call for submissions! Open to filmmakers of all ages and levels of experience who reside, work, go to school, or otherwise have a connection to Athens, Georgia. Submissions must be 30 to 90 seconds in length and received by February 6, 2016 along with a completed entry form. There is no entry fee. Finalist films will be shown at the Blue Carpet Premiere on March 16, 2016. Learn more about the project here!

Presenting Racing Extinction on October 13, 2015!

We are proud to bring Racing Extinction to Athens for a one-night engagement at Ciné! Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, Academy Award® winning filmmaker Louie Psihoyos (The Cove) assembled a team of artists and activists intent on showing the world never-before-seen images that expose issues of endangered species and mass extinction. Whether infiltrating notorious black markets with guerilla-style tactics or exploring the scientific causes affecting changes to the environment, this compelling documentary will change the way we see the world and our role within it. This screening is presented by Oceanic Preservation Society in partnership with UGA-based ECOGIG Research Consortium (Ecosystem Impacts of Oil and Gas Inputs to the Gulf), EcoFocus Film Festival and Ciné.


Tuesday, October 13th, 7:45pm and 9:45pm, Ciné in downtown Athens


Admission is FREE; reservation is required.The first screening is SOLD OUT.

3rd Annual Jekyll Island Green Screen

EcoFocus will partner for the third time with several great organizations present the Jekyll Island Green Screen on Saturday February 21st from 4:00-8:00pm. This year's event will feature a cocktail reception and research showcase, the film ANGEL AZUL and a follow-up panel discussion with experts. 2015 Ripple Effect Deadline Extended

The Ripple Effect 2015 Blue Carpet Premiere will be held on May 16. The deadline for YOUR short films about water conservation has been extended to February 13th! There have been two major changes for the Ripple Effect this year. The first is CASH PRIZES! There will be cash prizes in all categories, including $500 for "Best in Festival." The second big change is that we have broadened the scope to include water quality!  That means you can chose between conservation and pollution prevention for your film's focus. The End of the Line to Screen February 2, 2015

At the 2009 EcoFocus Film Festival we screened The End of the Line to a packed crowd and rave reviews. The End of the Line was selected for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and is as relevant today as it was at its premiere. The film will be screened again in Athens as part of the Animal Voices Film Festival on the UGA Campus!
